          Resistance is futile if less than .7 ohm.

          Also even if it is half an ohm and you have one volt, you are still pushing 500mA through it, versus if you have a quarter of an ohm, which will lead you to have 250mA. Though something draws only the amount of current it needs, it’s still safe to have a current limiting factor, just in case. So resistance is still important, even if less than .7 ohms.
